Privacy Policy

Account details. Your name, email address, and mobile number, plus your Venmo username if you add one. Teachers also provide their studio name, teaching locations, and rates.

Student details. The first and last name you enter for each student and, optionally, their birth year. Teachers may record skills they have granted a student and whether a student may assist a class.

Activity. Bookings, cancellations, waitlist entries, waiver acceptances, amounts owed and marked paid, and notes a teacher adds to a class.

Technical. Standard server logs, and a session cookie that keeps you signed in.

We do not collect payment card numbers or bank details. We do not sell personal information, and we don't run advertising or third-party analytics trackers.

To run the service: show schedules, take bookings, apply a teacher's cancellation policy, track what is owed, and send reminders, confirmations, and payment notices. We also use it to secure accounts and diagnose problems.

LessonDibs accounts belong to adults. Students do not create accounts or log in, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children. A student's name and birth year are entered by their parent or guardian so teachers can identify who is in class.

A parent can remove a student at any time from the Students screen, or email us to have their family's records deleted.

A teacher you book with can see the student's name, the booking, and the contact name and phone number for the family — they need this to run the class and reach you. Teachers cannot see families who haven't booked or connected with them.

Other families never see your contact details. When several students share a private lesson, the participating families see each other's student names and the shared price.

The LessonDibs administrator can access records as needed to operate and support the service.

We use a small number of providers to run LessonDibs, and share only what each needs: Supabase (database and sign-in), DigitalOcean (hosting), Resend (email delivery), and Twilio (text messages, where enabled). Signing in with Google shares your name and email address with us from your Google account.

Payments happen directly between families and teachers through Venmo; we generate the payment link but Venmo's own privacy policy covers anything you do there.

We keep your account and booking history while your account is active, because schedules and payment records need to stay accurate. Encrypted database backups are retained for up to 14 days. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your personal information, keeping only what we must for legitimate record-keeping.

You can edit your details in Profile, choose one evening summary instead of per-event email, unsubscribe from emails with the link in any message, or reply STOP to a text. You can request a copy of your information or its deletion by emailing CONTACT EMAIL.

Traffic is encrypted over HTTPS, passwords are handled by our authentication provider and never stored by us in readable form, and access to the production database is limited to the administrator. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information we will notify you promptly.

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and let you know in the app or by email.
